Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between this package and the Webmastered package?
The Regular Site Hosting Packages are designed for people who are familiar with the internet. This web site allows the customer to take care of all the daily maintenance of their web site, including e-mail account setup, sub-directories, passwords, and many other general maintenance items. Pages 2 Go has little to no intervention in the day to day running of these web sites.

Do I not get statistics under this plan?
Statistics mailed to your business are only supplied with the Webmastered accounts. Under the RSHP you have access to all your daily log files, which are located on your server in the root directory. If you have Webtrends, you can view your log files in that manner to get a complete breakdown of visitors.

Why is there a setup fee on this package?
The setup fee goes toward the initial setup of the account, including making the space on our servers and setting up your primary login and password.

Where do I put scripts when uploading them to my server?
Scripts are always located in the cgi-bin subdirectory on your virtual server. Any other directory may not allow the script to run properly. The cgi-bin directory is set up with the proper permissions to allow scripts running capability.

Why do you limit the amount of transfers each month?
The transfer limits for each package have been set to a fairly high number to allow maximum usage of your virtual server. They are there to prevent abuse of the system. Abusive items such as chat servers, forums, and file download sites can eat a lot of system resources just for one customer. The transfer limits help to prevent these types of services being offered on one of our virtual servers so all our customers don't have slow access to their virtual servers. The limits should be more than sufficient for most sites, even commerce sites. If they aren't working for you please contact
sales@pages2go.com to discuss your options.

Can I upgrade to a larger package if I find my current package isn't enough for my site?
Absolutely. Pages 2 Go is always happy to help you find a package that suits your needs like a glove. We want you to be happy with your purchase. Please contact
sales@pages2go.com to discuss upgrade options.

If I didn't get FrontPage, can I still get onto my virtual server?
Yes. Your virtual server is accessible through FTP whether you have FrontPage extensions installed or not. To access your site via FTP use the location yourdomain.xxx (substitute your domain) in any standard FTP software. Be sure to log in with your name and password or you will not be able to use your site.

Can I access my site anonymously via FTP?
Yes. Simply access your site like a normal anonymous FTP site by using anonymous as your user name and your e-mail address for the password.
