What version of
the FrontPage extensions does your server use?
Our servers are set up to use FrontPage 98
server extensions. There are some functionality
differences, and expanded usage incorporated into the
FrontPage 98 extensions.
I don't have
FrontPage 98, only 97, is this going to be a problem?
No. Although we would recommend upgrading to get
some of the improvements in FrontPage 98, you can still
access our servers with your FrontPage 97 software. Keep
in mind that not all of the FrontPage 98 Web Bots will be
accessible to use through the FrontPage 97 software. And
always if there is something you are trying to do in
FrontPage and can't figure out why it doesn't work, you
are welcome to contact us if you feel it is a server side
problem. Please consult your manual for information on
how to set up the specialized Web Bots built into either
version of FrontPage.
When I open up
FrontPage I can't seem to get onto my server? What am I
doing wrong?
Make sure the FrontPage connection is trying to
point at www.mydomain.xxx and not
http://www.mydomain.xxx,a common mistake when first
trying to use FrontPage.
How come I can't
get to everything I can get to via FTP through the
FrontPage Explorer?
FTP allows access to all the directories on your
server. The FrontPage software is designed to allow
access to the world wide web viewable portion of your
server.
I am using my new
domain in FrontPage, but I can't get onto my server, why?
If this is a new server, and your domain is not
accessible by the domain name you chose
(www.mydomain.xxx) through regular web browser methods,
then FrontPage wont be able to access it that way either.
You need to log into you server using the IP numbers
until the InterNIC gets your domain name set up.
Remember, the InterNIC can take up to a couple of weeks
after you purchase your domain to make it active to the
world wide web, so please use your IP numbers until then.
